Centork has recently delivered the first order for 116 actuators to Astilleros Balenciaga for the Grampian Sovereign ship. This is the first of the 2 twin ships that are to be built in the above-mentioned shipyard for the Scottish vessel owner North Star Shipping LTD.
These actuators have been installed and calibrated on butterfly valves of TTV company in the Centork facilities in Lezo. The diameters ranged from DN100 to DN400.
Due to the vessel owner’s requirements, the actuators were supplied with the Profibus DP redundant protocol, which doubles the communication in order to avoid loss of communication caused by damages in the bus loop.
The actuators will run on 24 VDC power supply so that they are able to continue to operate using batteries in the event of a blackout in the main system.
The ship is a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) with diesel-electric propulsion, whose mission is to provide logistic support to the oil rigs in North Sea. The vessel will supply several products through pumps, including drinking water, industrial water, gas oil, base oil and drilling mud. Each of these products will be pumped through circuits comprising valves. The valves and the corresponding discharge pump will operate remotely from the bridge or the control room.
Centork would like to thank both Astilleros Balenciaga and the vessel owner North Star Shipping LTD for the trust they have placed in us.
